Role Swap
Dmitri Shostakovich: Symphony No. 7
A concertmaster turns into a composer, a former chief conductor becomes an instrumental soloist, and the composer becomes a chronicler at this concert. But how is all this possible?
The concertmaster of the Pannon Philharmonic, Zoltán Bánfalvi, will present himself before the audience, but this time, as a composer, in fact, as the composer of a Capriccio, which was modelled after Shostakovich's cello concertos. The soloist of the work will be the orchestra's previous chief conductor, Tibor Bogányi. The concert ends with a monumental and epic symphony in which Shostakovich himself appears not only as a careful and sly composer but also as a chronicler of history. Of course, we won't completely break away from the conventions: the ensemble and the audience won't swap roles. While the orchestra gives the concert, the audience will enjoy it!
