If it's September, then it's time for the harvest; if it’s harvest, then it’s wine, and if it's wine, it comes with singing. We will provide you with all this at our concert on 21 September.

Wine-inspired songs and music await the audience this night. In addition to the Hungarian, Italian, Slovenian and Austrian choirs, the Zengő Ensemble, Szélkiáltó, the Pécs Symphonietta and András Berecz will also take to the stage. The show features waltzes and polkas by Johann Strauss and popular operetta arias, ensuring a good atmosphere. It is a must-see event for fans of good wines and music!

Coro Alpino Monte Caviojo, Italy

A BRIEF CHOIR HISTORY

The choir was born in 1968 from the passion for singing and for the mountain. Based in Arsiero, into the Pre-Alps in Vicenza province (Veneto), the choir gathers about 40 male amatorial singers, coming from the village and the surroundings. Many concerts were performed all over these years in Italy and abroad (Switzerland, France, Austria, Bosnia-Erzegovina, Catalonia – Spain, Germany and, of course, Hungary), along with cultural interchanges and twinning initiatives. The choir repertoire consists both of traditional songs and contemporary folk compositions, especially those written by Bepi De Marzi and Marco Maiero.

THE CHOIR CONDUCTOR

The conductor, Mr. Giulio Agostini, was born in 1964. He was a student at the Religious School of Music, in Vicenza; he is a pipe organ player and he conducted several youth and adult church choirs for many years in the past and still now. He begun the choir conductor in 2009.

Gesangverein Jennersdorf, Austria

The „Gesangverein Jennersdorf“ is a choir with enormous flair and a long tradition. Founded in 1898 as a single-male choir it has steadily developed over the years. Nowadays the mixed choir consists of more than 40 active members and is an important factor of culture in Jennersdorf, the town at the border to Hungary and Slovenia. Quite young at age the present Director of the local Central Music School, Andrea Werkovits BA, took over the lead with great enthusiasm. She is continuously developing the choir with joy and passion. At her side as the choir‘s chairwoman is Mag. Elisabeth Brunner. Thanks to its liveliness and cordiality the choir has no problems to acquire new members and is nevertheless always looking forward to new members. The choir’s repertoire comprises many various genres: sacred choral music, spirituals and gospels, classical choral literature, opera, operetta, folk songs, musicals as well as pop songs.

Oktet Deseti brat / Tenth Brother Octet, Slovenia

Oktet Deseti Brat, as a band of young boys, had its first performance in May 1980, and started rehearsing a year earlier. This means that the octet celebrated the 40th anniversary of its rich activity four years ago.

The octet sang in almost all of Slovenia, in the republics of the former Yugoslavia, as well as in Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Russia, Albania, Hungary and the Czech Republic. The octet was also on longer tours, namely once in Australia, twice in North America and four times in South America.

The Deseti Brat Octet is highly regarded among Slovenian emigrants. On one of the South American tours, the writer Ivan Sivec joined the octet, who then described a joint trip through the wonderful hidden corners of Argentina in the book "The Wounded Tree".

The singing repertoire mainly includes Slovenian choral literature from the Renaissance to contemporary composers. Of course, the singers are also not unfamiliar with the songs of other countries. The octet cultivates Slovenian folk songs with special love and respect. These are songs from the extremely rich treasury of a nation of two million. Octet Deseti Brat is one of the most important singing groups that are trying to ensure that the national song does not disappear into oblivion.

The octet has recorded 11 cassettes or CDs during its operation so far. He recorded some of his concerts for television, and also participated in various television shows. Likewise, the octet's song is often heard on the radio. There are also quite a few recordings of the performances on YouTube and in the archive of RTV Ljubljana.

Octet Deseti Brat also sang for the best tenor Luciano Pavarotti during his visit to Slovenia.

In 2005, the octet won the gold medal at the competition in Lindenholzhausen, Germany, in strong international competition.

The octet participated three times in the largest South American singing festival, Canta pueblo.

There are only two singers left in the octet from the original line-up. Older singers are slowly being replaced by young and fresh voices. These are good prospects that the song of the Tenth Brother octet will not die out so soon.

The artistic director of the octet is Mr. Franc Rizmal.

Bartók Béla Male Choir - Pécs, Hungary

The all-male chorus was founded in 1945, and it has been conducted by dr. Tamás Lakner (conductor, decorated with Liszt-Award) since 1980. The years of 2006 and 2008 were particularly successful for the group, as the 4th Choir Olympics in China and the 5th Choir Olympics in Austria brought twice the Olympic Championship of All-Male Choirs to Pécs.

In 2014, the Pécs men fascinated the jury and audi- ence again - resulting an absolute first prize in the Beijing International Competition for Choirs. They represented Hungary at the Eurovision Choir of the Year 2017. In 2022, they returned home from the InCanto Mediterraneo Competition in Sicily with a gold rating.

"Bartók Béla" Male Choir has been the host ensemble of the Convivial Wine-song Festivals since its very beginning in 1993.

Conductor: Tamás Lakner
