Secrets of Nature
Ottorino Respighi: The Birds – excerpts
Edvard Grieg: In Autumn
Ferde Grofé: Grand Canyon Suite
The depiction of nature is as old as music, since spring, and even human nature is already featured in folk songs and medieval music. It was meant first to appear only in vocal pieces for a long time. Still, storms and bird songs appear already in Baroque instrumental works. When we look into music history, we can find the burbling of streams, the sunrise, evening melancholy, night music, and fabulous landscapes there. These are primarily reflections, where man can revisit his own existence, emotions and relationship with his environment.
What do you consider the most beautiful musical composition inspired by nature?
Beaches, birds, seasons, the Grand Canyon, lights, shadows, heat and cold wind – all this showcased in music. The Pannon Philharmonic invites the audience on a unique journey, where we can admire the world through "nature music" compiled from the favourites of our visitors. You can surf this evening from the stormy melancholy of the Hebridies, through Respighi's birds and Grieg's autumn lights, to the monumental, sound-track-like Grand Canyon Suite. Not only loveable but also unmissable!
