Dance of Light and Shadows
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Concerto in G major (K.453)
Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No. 7, Op. 92
There are countless legends surrounding Mozart with regard to his fast working methods and his negligent conduct towards his own works. These legends are supported, for instance, by the story behind his ″Haffner″ Symphony, originally supposed to be a serenade. Mozart penned it at night, in a rush and in fragments. When he wanted his work back to turn it into a symphony, he was utterly astonished at how good it was. A similarly colourful and varied piece is Mozart's Piano Concerto in G major, which often showcases the contrast of light and shade. The concert ends with Beethoven’s seemingly most cheerful symphony, which, however, isn’t free from grief and struggles.
