In the first part of the evening, the audience can enjoy Vivaldi’s violin concerto cycle, The Four Seasons, in its complete form. As it is frequently used as background music or a movie soundtrack, everyone knows a few melodies from this composition; still, in its entirety, it’s played only rarely. After the intermission, the orchestra will play a buoyant, colourful and virtuoso Mozart symphony. It was given the by-name “Linz” after the Upper-Austrian capital, where Mozart stopped by on his way from Salzburg to Vienna and where his host organised an ad-hod composer’s night for him. As he had none of his symphonies with him, he just jotted down one. With this, probably the most quickly written symphony of music history was born.
