Szélkiáltó 45 - Kaláka 50
Symphonietta of Pécs
Symphonietta of Pécs
The Kossuth Award-winning Kaláka and the Hungarian Heritage Award-winning Szélkiáltó are long- established representatives of sung poetry in Hungary. The two ensembles have been on good terms, and their friendship has been strengthened by their numerous joint concerts, concert tours and anniversary celebrations. Thanks to their generations-long history, their „ageless” art demonstrating the close ties between poetry and music is an organic experience for those children, parents and grandparents who are sensitive to meaningful values. Their purpose is communication, the conveyance of the poets’ ideas, but they also prompt the audience to think and feel about these ideas. Even though some things can be told with words, there are others that can only be expressed through music, as it elevates a message to heights where even our innermost thoughts become clear. Singing can escalate the intellectual and emotional content of poetry, and there are poems that could not achieve their goal without it. This is why sung poetry is as important today as ever. The two ensembles’ concert is a rare and special event, which will be enriched with a “touch” of the symphonic orchestra. While in the first part of the concert, the audience can welcome the Pécs Sinfonietta alongside the two ensembles, they will have the traditional sound experience of Kaláka and Szélkiáltó in the second half. As an encore, the to bands will also evoke their joint music-making traditions.
