The Pannon Philharmonic’s most earnest program series, Stage Door, is celebrating its third year. The Kodaly Center’s Zoltán Kocsis hall gives the chamber performances an intimate atmosphere as the orchestra’s musicians play an arm’s reach away from their audience. The program is made up of the musicians’ favourite pieces performed by various chamber formations, giving rise to singularities both in the instrumental combinations and in the choice of compositions themselves. The concert begins at 19:00 on Thursday and can be reached through the Kodaly Center’s stage door.

Flautist Gergely Matuz is known first and foremost in musical circles as a contemporary music performer. This time we can get to know him as a musical composer as an audience to his mysteriously titled piece. Gustav Holst’s Saint Paul Suite was written for the students of the Saint Paul school that he led, and is one of the composer’s pedagogical works that is so inspiring, that it holds its ground in professional halls as well. Though he does not belong to the ranks of the 20th century’s most well-known composers, Barber’s Adagio has become a veritable classic. The 20th-century one-hit wonder is followed by the multi-faceted and emotionally refined sounds of Brahms’s closing piece.
