Béla Bartók: Romanian Folk Dances

Our latest program series, ‘Aftertone,’ begins at 19:00 with the second half of the #NoBabel concert program. From 18:00-19:00 teenagers can enjoy Ádám Bősze’s humour and lively commentary accompanying the musical experience, after the first half of the concert adults are invited to the hall to do the same. We warmly recommend this 4-part series to adults who are beginners, newly beginning or practised music fans eager for musically stacked Saturday nights.
Make sure to buy tickets for all four concerts in time!
The people’s of Central Europe in the 19th century were bound together not only by the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy but also by the era’s flourishing unique musical style, whose character became a national symbol. This character was spread largely through dance. Who wouldn’t recognize Polish culture by the Polka or Mazurka, Austrians by the Ländler or Hungarians from a Verbunkos or Csárdás? Throughout the night’s program, we can immerse ourselves in their musical world and in the multi-generational perspective that comes with 18th and 19th-century dances recorded by 20th-century composers and performed for a 21st-century audience.
