In safe proximity: ONLINE / New policies and useful information in effect from 10 November
Müpa Budapest and Kodály Center Pécs is once again opening its doors, with increased care for the safety of the viewers and artists.
10, NOVEMBER, 2020 - NEW RULES!
DEAR AUDIENCE,
As of 10 November, 2020, new restrictive measures of the Hungarian Government entered into effect. The effective regulations are taken into absolute consideration in the operation of the Pannon Philharmonic, and accordingly, some of the concerts are streamed live from Kodály Centre.
- Live concerts that were to be held within the next 30 days will be scheduled for a later date. Tickets and subscriptions purchased for them will naturally be valid for the replacement concerts. We will keep you posted on the rescheduled dates and times.
- Subscription-holders of concerts in Kodály Centre, Pécs will be given free access to the live-streaming. Also individual ticket-holders who decide not to claim a refund are entitled to free of charge access to the concerts they bought their tickets for.
- Rescheduled concerts will be streamed online from Kodály Centre at 8 pm on the originally rescheduled dates (our next concerts are on 21 November and 9 December).
- Our children’s music show “Snail’s Shell” scheduled for 14 November, is cancelled. Tickets can be refunded.
- Our very thrilling and highly novel music event, "Contemporary Interlude" - which would also have enriched the audience with a composition's premiere - originally scheduled for 12 November will be held on a later date. The concerto was written during the first wave of the pandemic. Its genre is so much up-to-the-minute that you can follow its progress and performance history online on the largest social media platform. This is where the young composer of the piece Donghoon Shin shares his ideas and where you can watch the brief video message of the conductor Boon Hua Lien recorded outside Kodály Centre just a few days ago. The concerto was dedicated to Kristóf Baráti and the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra. Both Asian musicians are mentored by the Peter Eötvös Contemporary Music Foundation.
On 21 November, the Pannon Philharmonic concert titled "Tears" will be streamed live from the concert hall of Kodály Centre, conducted by Gilbert Varga. The Kossuth and Liszt Awards-winning pianist Gergely Bogányi, will star as the soloist of the evening, playing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concerto in C minor on the newly developed Bogányi grand piano designed in cooperation with Hungarian engineers. The title is very telling: To start with, the concert title was to be "Tears and Pranks", but as we were forced to change the original programme, we just crossed out half of the title. No audience is allowed to enter Kodály Centre, so what is left is Tears.
At the same time, it is excellent news that the bond between us can be kept alive, the joy of music can still be passed on, even if online, the streaming is live thanks to technology.

On 9 December, the 10th anniversary of the first public concert held in Kodály Centre, we will present our gala concert "Reminiscences". The orchestra will be led by Tibor Bogányi, and a pianist with accolades like the Kossuth and Liszt Prizes, Dezső Ránki will feature as the soloist of the night.
YOU ARE MOST WELCOME AT OUR NEXT LIVE CONCERT STREAMING. TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELVES!
